Our story

  1. 1984

Altus Windows was founded in 1984 by Peter Barratt. Altus were the first manufacturers of UPVC windows in the Hinckley area, and back then the company was based in Wolvey, on the Leicestershire border.

  2. 2001

Altus moved into a new factory on the Station Road Industrial Estate in Market Bosworth.

  3. 2003

That chapter of the business concluded when Mr Barratt retired and a former employee, John Croxall, took control of the business.

  4. 2015

John stepped down to pursue other avenues in the glazing industry, and control of Altus Windows passed to Gareth Oliver, in whose capable hands the company continues to flourish and further its local reputation for excellence.

How we work

Altus Windows do not employ salespeople or sub-contract installers. Fitting of our products is headed up by Gareth, who was one of our long-term fitters for over ten years before he took the company on.

Our company ethos is one of complete quality and value for money. We have not advertised for many years, and 100% of the projects we work on come from recommendation.

The products that we supply are all market-leading brand names, fitted very carefully to give the best possible finished job.

An update on our whereabouts

Gareth Oliver, 13 March 2017

Conservatories are proving really popular, with people extending and adding to their properties instead of moving house.

We are still fitting many front and back doors too, mainly Composite and Rockdoors. Anthracite Grey is hugely popular, as is Black and Chartwell Green, and last month we even fitted a bright yellow front door and a raspberry pink cottage style that both looked really striking.

The majority of our work is still fitting lovely new windows. There is much more variety now than there used to be, with colours, glass patterns and fancy handles, so people can be more creative with their properties and ideas.

Seal Service

Gareth Oliver, 28 September 2016

Seal Service are the company we use for our UPVC ancillary supplies.

We purchase all of our fascia, soffit, guttering and UPVC window trims from Seal Service. They also provide us with our Soudal silicone, Windsor wall fittings and Spax.

We only use top quality branded products at all times.
